I’ve used many different devotionals in my journey and some I enjoyed more than others.
The key is finding the right devotional.
It helps them begin to look at God’s Word as a life application resource when they have an appropriate children’s devotional book to guide them.
To achieve a successful devotional time you will need to get some great materials in your kid’s hands. I have used quite a few different devotionals and I am always reading reviews and checking how many stars they have.

Top 8 Amazing Devotionals for Kids
One thing that I get asked all the time is “What devotionals do you suggest?”
These top 8 Devotionals for kids that I have selected are either in my home right now or in my “cart” ready to be added to my shelf. As I was doing my research for you, I came across some great newer devotions for kids that I will be adding to our library. Yahoo!!
I have read these to ALL my kids at some point. Other devotions, for older kids, they have begun reading on their own.
The key discipline is that you are instilling devotions into their daily routines.

This is a little treasure in our home! With a brief children’s devotion, verse, and prayer for each day of the year, The One-Year Devotions for Preschoolers has been fully enjoyed by my little ones. It is written in the perfect tone and level for preschoolers to have a lot of interest. To be honest, the simplicity often speaks to me too!
Kids go on adventures with Jack, Zoe, and other friends in this great devotional. There are lots of animals mixed into the pages too, which makes it just right for ages 2-5. I have read this one to all of my children!

This daily devotional delivers hope and grace to the littlest readers. With great stories of our Maker, you can read Grace for the Moment together and discuss the simple and perfect topics. Because of its simplicity, this is also a great stepping stone devotional for kids who have good reading skills to begin reading on their own.
The Ology: Ancient Truths Ever New
This devotional, The Ology, is a beautiful kids devotional that we have enjoyed reading and looking at. This author lays out in terms that children can comprehend many of the deeper theological truths in the bible.
It is broken out by topics like “what is sin” or “who is the Holy Spirit”, and “end times”. There are lovely pictures to discover as you read through the scripture references and text. An easy read for younger kids too.
The Action Bible Devotional
The Action Bible Devotional By Jeremy V. Jones |
Do you have the Action Bible (a total fave in our home)? If so, your kids will also love the 52-week Action Bible Devotional that goes along with it.
Containing the same bright graphics as the Action Bible, it is a 52-week devotional that has a memory very, “x-ray vision” look into the text, and hands-on activities. There is an appropriate call to action right within each week too.
Weekly family devotionals would be a great time to use this resource to engage the whole family.
Apologia – Who is God?
What We Believe Series, Who is God? And Can I Really Know Him? Volume 1 By John Hay & David Webb |
This book is part of an amazing series by Apologia, called the “What we Believe Series”. It is a little bit like a bible study, and it can also be read independently by your child. So, in our home, we have read it like a devotional by reading a small section each day and then discussing it.
This volume “Who Is God?” covers some of the BIG theological topics in a deeper sense. Subjects like the Trinity and God’s Word as authority are discussed in depth with stories and facts built-in.
Another great feature of this series is that you can get a coloring book for littles or a junior journal if you want your kids to do the hands on activities. We have them and use them loosely.
Indescribable – God and Science
Indescribable By Louie Giglio |
If you have science and nature lovers in your home, then you need Indescribable. This devotional is one that I could not wait to get on my shelf, and it did not disappoint! There are 100 devotionals that display the majesty of God with science concepts! We totally love some good science in our home.
The author weaves in physics, animals, magnetic force, dinosaurs, and a bunch of other very cool and fun topics. All of this is done through the lens of the bible and has prayer, activities, and memory verses for each.
I Am – 40 Reasons to Trust God
I Am: 40 Reasons to Trust God By Diane Stortz |
We used the I Am: 100 Names of God devotional one year in our Circle Time and it is terrific. Knowing who God is and His character allows our kid’s the opportunity to grow in Faith. Our little humans will face all kinds of adversity on their level just like you and me and knowing that God is Jehovah Jirah – Th Lord my Provider, or El Shaddai – God of Heaven equips them to hold on to a tangible God.
This reminder to trust God in everything will help put their hearts and minds at ease as they lean on the Savior.
These are some of the most AMAZING devotionals for kids!
